2008 SBA Sports and Trivia Challenge

In the Spirit of friendship and fun, corporate teams of athletes and trivia buffs leave the workplace behind as they compete in Basketball (2-ball), Volleyball, Softball, Baggo, Dodgeball and Trivia. Each participant will receive a special goody bag and a commemorative 2008 Challenge T-shirt. Dinner will be included as well as special treats provided by Culver’s of Schaumburg and PepsiAmerica’s. What is the Sports’ Challenge

Teams of 8-12 individuals will play in a pool of 4 to 6 teams.  Each pool will play in 4 different events:  Volleyball (6 on 6); Softball (8 vs 8); Dodgeball (6 vs 6); and Two-Ball/Baggo (a combination event involving a basketball shooting contest and a bag tossing competition).  The winner of each pool will then compete against the other pool winners in a secret event.

Can I register for just one of the Sports’ events

No, the teams actually rotate through and play each of the 4 events. 

Where is the event

Schaumburg Sports Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road.  Near the intersection of Irving Road and Rodenburg Road (just West of the Schaumburg Airport).

How many people do I need for a Sports’ team

Teams are a minimum of 8 persons and a maximum of 12.  There must be a minimum of 4 women per team, but we recommend 6 if possible.  Feel free to bring as many “fans’ as you want to cheer you on!

If I can’t put together a team on my own, can I still participate

Absolutely!  Just register by contacting Andrea Biwer at the SBA office and she will set you up with other individuals.  It is a great way to network and meet some new business contacts.

Are there any gender restrictions as to Trivia Bowl teams

No, any combination of men or women can play.  There are 4 persons per team.

Will there be something to eat

Yes, all participants will receive a ticket at registration which can be redeemed for food and beverage at the Center’s concession window.  Also, Culver’s will be present with free Custard during the event.

How long with the Sports’ and Trivia events last

The Sports’ Challenge will start at 3:30 pm and will continue until approximately 8:30 pm.  The Trivia Bowl will start at 5:30 pm and will continue until approximately 7:30 pm.  No matter what happens, be sure to stay for the final event – expect the unexpected!

What else can I do to make the event even more enjoyable

There are several ways in which you can help:

• Fill out your team waiver sheets (online at the SBA website) prior to the event.
• Choose a team captain in advance and ask him/her to attend the Captains’ meeting at 3:15 in the soccer field bleachers on the day of the event.
• Please show up on time so that we can keep the event running smoothly for all teams.
• Remember to HAVE FUN!
